• Assistant Scoop Shop Manager - Edina, MN
The Assistant Shop Manager (ASM) supports the Shop Manager in their leadership and administrative duties. ASMs serve as leaders in the shop when the shop manager is not present or is unavailable. This role encompasses all Sweet Science Ice Cream’s Shift Lead duties with additional management and administrative duties as detailed below and as assigned by Shop Manager(s) and Sweet Science HQ.
The Assistant Shop Manager is responsible for delivering on our promise to create welcoming multi-generational community gathering places. ASMs lead their shop teams in delivering great service, consistent scoops, and good vibes during every shift. The ASM has guaranteed minimum hours year-round and are the first candidates considered when any role of Shop Manager becomes available.
Shift Lead Responsibilities:

Function as the “manager on duty” responsible for all business execution during their shift including cash handling, cleanliness, playing fun upbeat music, keeping team morale high, and delighting our customers

Manage and prioritize flow of tasks, breaks, and scooping during shift
-
Responsible for cash handling during shift, including open/close and deposits
-
Communicate company goals effectively with all employees, including giving direction, coaching, training, and celebrating awesomeness

Model respectful management and communication tactics

Problem solve and use good judgment

Set an example of top-notch service and scooping every day, including all scooper responsibilities:

Offer customers samples, menu suggestions, and add-ons with a generous, friendly attitude

Hustle and lead others to keep the shop looking great and fully stocked:

Continually stock ice cream, cones, paper goods and merchandise

Operate Point of Sale system; follow cash handling procedures

Wash pails and dishes throughout each shift

Keep shop inviting and clean: inside and out, front and back

Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines with care

Other duties as assigned

ASM responsibilities (that are additional to Shift Lead expectations above):

Support and assist Shop Managers in their admin duties as needed. This includes but is not limited to scheduling, updating and auditing shop documents, approving shift trades, finding shift coverage, responding to customer feedback, and ongoing shop projects

Serve as the point person for all FOH (Front of House) shop operations for shop manager days off and other times they are unavailable. A primary responsibility in this role is ensuring shop managers can truly step away from the business for 2 days every week

Identify and communicate operational needs to the appropriate person within Sweet Science Ice Cream
-
Coordinate and participate in on-boarding and training for external hires and internal promotions which includes “Scooper Check-ins” as well as potential performance reviews.

Participate in hiring as needed

Participate in inventory and inventory review/ordering in collaboration with shop managers and chefs
-
Work with the shop manager to meet or beat shop sales and profitability goals, provide great customer experiences, and sustain high team morale
-
Effectively manage their staff of scoopers and Shift Leads including hiring, training, coaching, and celebrating success
Qualifications:
-
Current Sweet Science Ice Cream Shift Lead OR prior experience in a management position with a team of 5 or more workers
-
30 hours per week availability. Sweet Science guarantees at least 30 hours a week on the schedule.

Ability to travel to multiple stores and the Sweet Science HQ

Exceptional communication skills and a professional, friendly attitude
-
Retail or client/customer service experience
-
At least 18 years of age.

Able to work at least one closing weekend shift (Friday-Sunday)

Able to lift 30-50lbs on a regular basis

Access to a phone that is text, call, and internet enabled.

Internet access.

Food Safety Certification must be completed within the first 60 days of employment.
Compensation:

Hourly wage commensurate with experience level will be offered to external candidates.

5 days PTO per year, accrued hourly, after first initial 90 days of employment

• Kitchen Supervisor - Saint Paul, MN
The Kitchen Supervisor at Sweet Science Ice Cream is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all food production processes adhere to quality standards and safety regulations. This role includes managing kitchen staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and following recipes and procedures to create high-quality ice cream. The Kitchen Supervisor plays a key role in creating a positive work environment while maintaining efficient kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations Management:

Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all production tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively.

Maintain required food safety certifications and keep necessary records up to date.
Equipment Maintenance:

Collaboration with Operations Manager:

Qualifications:

• Ice Cream Production Kitchen Assistant - St. Paul, MN
General Description:
The production team completes all tasks to create our legendary ice cream. Sweet Science kitchen team members make and churn ice cream bases, make pastry and candy for inclusions, and make sauces and mix-ins. Our ideal kitchen staff have a positive attitude, and complete tasks with speed, efficiency and accuracy. Experience with pastry/baking in a commercial setting is preferred. Our team is expected to pay attention to detail, be hard working and flexible, and possess general commercial kitchen knowledge.
General Responsibilities:
• Cooking/churning ice cream and components
• Ensuring quality products are made by following recipes and procedures carefully and continually monitoring for quality assurance
• Taking care of maintenance and safety issues according to creamery tools (checklists, cleaning lists, and safety lists)
• Cleaning, dishes, supporting the daily work plans
• Being a positive asset who focuses on community with the other team members while making fabulous ice cream
